What is an MAD Animated Poster (AP)?
At MAD, we use Electroluminescent technology as a backlight supporting the animation sequences. The animated poster is essentially a capacitor structure with Phosphor Dielectric sandwiched between the electrodes, of which the top layer is transparent.

This allows light to pass through. Application of a voltage via an inverter generates a changing electric field within the phosphor, thereby lighting up the poster.

What is Phosphor?
Phosphor is a chemical particle containing zinc sulfide, with either manganese or copper to achieve the emission colors (Blue-green, yellow-green, etc. is achieved either by phosphor blends or chemically shifting the emitted color). The color can be defined during the manufacture of the phosphor, or by blending phosphors of different colors to achieve the composite color.

What are the advantages of going with MAD?

How much power does an MAD Animated Poster consume?
On average, less than 0.15Ma-amp at 240V AC as per one square centimeter.

What is the shelf life of a MAD Animated Poster?
The operating life depends largely on the type of environment these posters are exposed to. For indoor usage, it would last typically 3-6 months. In terms of useful hours it generally amounts to a range of 8,000 to 10,000 hours.

If placed under outdoor exposure to weather elements, especially moisture / humidity, it can last about 1-2 months. This renders it suitable for advertising purposes as the duration is compatible with the duration of most ad campaigns.

What colors are available?
Print the colors and we can do it! However bear in mind that because of the base color of the backlight, certain white hues can be tinged slightly pink or blue.

How bright can an MAD Animated Poster shine? Can the intensity be controlled?
Because we are a curious bunch at MAD, we actually ran tests to light up our lives in this area. Yes, the intensity can be controlled.

An increase in voltage when applied, increases the light output and its frequency will change the color or chromacity in our posters. However for every gain there is a sacrifice, so making it brighter this way would mean losing some useful life.

Solution: if you were to animate MAD posters, it can lengthen the poster's lifespan. This is because the lights are not running simultaneously, and are being lit at intervals, thereby allowing the other areas to sporadically rest.

With a lower power input, the lifespan is increased. In general human translation it might mean working smart.

Higher voltage and frequencies, as well as elevated temperatures during operation, will degrade efficiency and change the color of the lamps. To improve the lifespan of the lamp, operation or output at lower temperatures and voltage are encouraged.

How flexible is an MAD Animated Poster?
EL can be bent and carried around; it will continue to function - don't attempt to cut up the poster for whatever reason though or we will not be able to help you out there!

What is the largest MAD Animated Poster made?
At MAD, we can upsize you without cost constraint, so bring it on!

We will love to take on the challenge of creating a really huge poster. To-date we have since produced the standard world-wide sized posters for bus shelters at 1.2M by 1.8M. A whole sheet of our AP with 100% lighted area. 'Plug-and-play' system so simple so install that the media owners are doing it themselves.

What is the smallest MAD Animated Poster produced?
We did this for the sake of fun, because the dimensions can hardly qualify as a poster, but it was at 0.55MM. On the safe side, 2MM in thickness.

What are your quantity breaks?
There is no minimum quantity as at MAD, the price would determine your quantity.
